Salary: $95,798 - $160,555. The salary range is based on a multitude of factors, including applicable personnel rules, regulations, and guidelines.

DESCRIPTION: The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the legal business of the State, acting as legal advisor and representative of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials and institutions of State Government. As Maryland's 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a key focus on equity, justice, and fairness.
The Civil Division represents Maryland state agencies and officials, in the state and federal trial and appellate courts, in the most important civil litigation that the State confronts. In addition to handling trial and appellate cases, the Division reviews and approves all civil complaints, notices of appeal, and appellate briefs filed on behalf of the State; approves settlements in civil cases; conducts moot courts in all civil appeals; and serves as a general resource and advisor on litigation matters to the divisions and units of the Office of the Attorney General.
EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have five years of legal experience, which may include one or more judicial clerkship(s); an outstanding academic record; excellent research, writing, editing, and oral advocacy skills; and the intellect and creativity to handle sophisticated legal issues. Other factors that will enhance an application include experience in civil litigation, a state or federal judicial clerkship, and work on a law journal. Maryland Bar membership is required.
