This position serves as Advice Counsel to the Commissioner of Financial Regulation, who supervises and regulates Maryland-chartered commercial and savings banks, Maryland-chartered credit unions, mortgage lenders (including lenders, brokers, and servicers), sales finance companies, mortgage loan originators, check cashing services, and other related financial services. The position involves providing legal advice to the Commissioner on a broad range of issues and requires knowledge and understanding of banking and mortgage laws and regulations. In addition, the position involves matters related to the compliance with Maryland and federal financial services laws, evaluation of licensing qualifications, determination of Commissioner's authority, and other related issues.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of legal experience, excellent writing skills, and admission to the Maryland Bar. Experience representing financial institutions, lenders, or loan servicers, or a financial regulator is required.
