To help consumers remain up to date on all product recalls, the Consumer Protection Division has established an online clearinghouse. By bringing together in one site all the agencies that issue recall notices, consumers no longer have to determine what each agency regulates and how to access recall notices. Recent consumer-related recall notices may be viewed easily by selecting from the appropriate agency below. Archived recalls and more information about a specific recall is also available on the appropriate fedeal agency's web site.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has jurisdiction over recalls involving food, pet and farm animal feed, cosmetics, drugs, radiation-emitting products, medical devices, vaccines, blood and plasma products, veterinary products, combination products and other biologics.
The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has jurisdiction over recalls involving meat, poultry and processed eggs.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has jurisdiction over recalls involving motor vehicles, equipment, tires and child safety seats.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has jurisdiction over recalls involving pesticides, rodenticides, fungicides and motor vehicle emissions.
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over recalls involving recreational boats and watercraft, equipment installed by the manufacturer of those vessels and other boating safety issues.
