If you believe that your information has been used to fraudulently file a Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim, contact the Maryland Department of Labor's Division of Unemployment Insurance by visiting MDunemployment.com or emailing ui.fraud@maryland.gov.
Protecting Your Identity
Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA), you are entitled to a free copy of your consumer report once every 12 months. Check your FACTA report to look for any unauthorized banking activity in your name: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/consumer-tools/credit-reports-and-scores/consumer-reporting-companies/companies-list/chex-systems/
Consider placing a freeze on your credit, as well as the credit of other people in your household, including minor children: https://www.marylandattorneygeneral.gov/Pages/IdentityTheft/freezing.aspx
Protect yourself from tax return fraud by requesting an Identity Protection PIN Code: https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin. Note: you cannot apply for this protection until January 2021.
